Before showing us a short film titled "Bubblehead", Professor Francis asked us to consider why he would choose to name our course "Asian American History In Film & Theater". Accordingly I expected the film to be openly insightful regarding the content of this class. Instead, but instead found myself a little frustrated when we were told later to note down our reflections. The director was very subtle in her approach towards Asian American issues, and chose to mesh together snippets of the everyday life of a young Asian American child that I quite frankly found to be a little boring.
Thinking about Francis' original question, I After we began our discussion things slowly started to make sense in my mind, and I found myself a surprised by how much we all had to say about such a short film. I realized almost immediately that I probably need to do a little background research on how to study film.
